Today is World Menopause Day and what better way t Today is World Menopause Day and what better way to spend it than in my treatment room providing soothing reflexology treatments to my beautiful clients. Reflexology is a calming complementary treatment that works beautifully alongside medical treatments, great nutrition and movement to support ladies during this period of change. The Menopause journey is incredibly personal and different for each lady, they may struggle with sleep disturbances, hot flushes or one of the many other symptoms. Each journey is unique. Within my Ashby treatment room I feel proud to provide a calming space during this important time where my clients can talk, cry, laugh, sleep, rest and breathe. A space to be. Your Mental Health is Important Today is World Me Your Mental Health is Important Today is World Mental Health Day and an important reminder to look after your mental well-being. If you are feeling concerned about your own mental health or that of a loved one, friend or colleague, please reach out for support from your GP, and organisations such as @mindcharity and the @samaritanscharity If you are feeling stressed and looking for ideas to relax, my favourite ideas include: (1) Meditate - you can do this at the beginning or the end of the day (or even both if it helps). Meditation is a great way to create peace and let go of worries and stress. My favourite app is @insighttimer (2) Spend time in nature - try to get outdoors each day, even if it is just in the garden. Being in nature may help to reduce stress levels and calm the mind. (3) Turn off social media notifications - this is a great way of creating space and calmness. This is particularly important if you find the news updates stressful. (4) Talk - reach out to a friend, or family member you trust, or an organisation such as the Samaritans. Share how you are feeling and know that you are not alone. (5) Hand reflexology - if you are not able to visit the treatment room for a relaxing reflexology appointment, you may enjoy the hand reflexology video saved on my Reels section of the profile. Information Overload Within my reflexology treatm Information Overload Within my reflexology treatment room I support many clients as they navigate the perimenopause and menopause, and a common feeling they experience is information overload. There is so much information available online about symptoms, treatments, and lifestyle changes. It can be difficult to know where to start and what is credible advice. It is fantastic and long overdue, that more people are talking about women’s health, however, the downside to this can be information overload, as many of my clients have their social media newsfeeds filled with a huge array of advice (some of which conflicts) leading to confusion and stress! If you are experiencing these types of feelings, whilst you establish what is right for your well-being, these ideas may help: (1) Only follow social media accounts which have reliable content and contain material you believe is to be correct. Not all information is created equal. Some sources are more credible than others, and some information is more relevant to your needs than others. Be mindful of the sources you get your information from, and focus on consuming information that is high quality and relevant to you; (2) Follow accounts that will make you laugh, inspire you and keep your stress levels low - it is important to keep those cortisol levels down during this time, as cortisol can heighten your perimenopausal symptoms; (3) Take breaks from consuming information. It's important to give your brain a chance to rest from processing information. Take breaks away from your social media apps and do something else, to relax and unwind. This will help you to process everything you have watched/read without feeling overwhelmed; (4) Talk to someone you trust about how you are feeling - it is likely that friends, family, colleagues or your reflexologist may be going through or have gone through this too; (5) Reach out to your GP, share your symptoms, worries and concerns. Remember this is your journey, and what works for some, may not work for others. Do what feels right for you in your own space and time. If you are concerned about your health, please always consult your GP in the first instance.
